Project RISE

WAVI Project RISE (Resource Increase for Service Expansion)

As domestic and sexual violence are a leading cause of homelessness, WAVI has experienced continuing requests for shelter services. The rapid growth in the Black Hills has created additional challenges for those we serve at WAVI. Affordable housing is a scarce resource, creating unexpected delays in clients’ progress. To meet the changing climate our survivors face and find practical, sustainable, and successful ways to empower and support the individuals and families we serve, WAVI must grow. Project RISE has allowed us to rise to the challenges presented in our community through expanding our shelter, staff, and services.

We are entering the last phase of Project RISE WAVI and need your help to deliver our promise to “Never turn a survivor away that needs a safe place to rest, rejuvenate, and rise.”  To meet this need, WAVI is expanding our shelter and increasing our capacity. With your financial assistance, we can complete our final phase of Project Rise and provide a safe, temporary home for those most vulnerable, our survivors.
The total cost of Project RISE is $1,265,819.69. We need your help funding the last $60,000 of the final phase which will cover security, cameras and upgrades for entire building, beds and storage, final construction costs, laundry facilities and supplies, office furniture/computers and supplies, televisions/mounts and technology, bedding/linens, decorations, and other miscellaneous items.
