![]() WAVI, along with our partner, Verizon, are thrilled to announce our annual 5K Peace Pro-Motion and Walk A Mile In Her Shoes events on Saturday, May 11th 2013! Our 5K is hosted every year to raise funds and awareness to support WAVI's mission of ending violence in our community. Walk a Mile is a nationally-recognized event designed to raise awareness and funds for the movement to end domestic and sexual violence. In the event, men raise funds (or have them raised on their behalf) and will walk around Memorial Pond wearing red high heels. Walk A Mile events are held around the world to highlight and encourage men's roles in ending these types of violence. Bringing Walk A Mile In Her Shoes to our community was made possible by a $7,500 grant from Verizon's HopeLine® program. WAVI is extremely grateful for their partnership in our efforts. Participants for both are encouraged to sign up and raise money online by visiting www.firstgiving.com/wavi.There will be great food, live entertainment, and door prizes awarded for both events, and T-shirts will be given to participants with pledges of $25.00 or more. The 5K registration begins at 9am and the run at 10am. Walk A Mile Registration begins at 11:00am and the walk will begin by 12:00pm. Regular pledge sheets are available at 527 Quincy St, Rapid City or by calling 605-341-3292. Participants can use both methods to raise money. We can't wait to see you there! ![]()
