Each year, thousands of people come to Working Against Violence, Inc. (WAVI) seeking shelter, support, and the means to give themselves and their children a life free from violence. They are our mothers, fathers, our sisters, our brothers, coworkers, and friends. Their journeys are never the same, and they are never easy. But one thing never changes: each person who has the courage to seek help still needs hope.
Right now, someone is walking through the door at WAVI. You can ensure that help is always there, 24 hours a day. Together, we can break the cycle of violence.
There are several ways you can support WAVI:
All contributions are welcome and greatly appreciated. Every gift is used to further our vision of empowerment and safety to women, men and children struggling to break free of the cycle of violence. All gifts to WAVI are tax deductible, and you will receive a thank you letter to document your gift for tax purposes.
A simple way to leave a planned gift to WAVI is to make a bequest in your will or living trust. With a charitable request to WAVI, you can provide WAVI with important long-term support for general operations. Your estate will receive a charitable estate tax deduction for the full value of the donation, so your estate will not pay estate tax on these assets.
There are various volunteer opportunities within WAVI, including helping with childcare, facility maintenance, and working in the donation room. Grab a group of friends and make it a fun day of giving back to the Black Hills community! Click here for more about current volunteer opportunities.
Consider hosting a donation drive from our Needs List. WAVI refers furniture and stuffed toys to area thrift stores. 
For security reasons, we accept donations at the back entrance Tuesday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Please call us ahead of time if you are bringing a large donation. Food may be dropped off at anytime. If these times do not work for you, please call in advance to set up a time.
WAVI refers all furniture donations to The Cornerstone Mission Thrift Store (716-2768) or Love, INC. (718-5683)
