VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNIES
Individuals, businesses, schools, churches, sports teams, and community groups can make a meaningful difference in the lives of survivors and their children. Whether you have a few hours to give or would like to organize a larger project, there are many ways to get involved.
Please Note: Due to the confidential nature of our shelter, ongoing volunteer opportunities inside the shelter are limited.
· Volunteers must be at least 18 years old
· Must pass a background check.
· Must commit to a regular weekly schedule.
Donation & Drive Opportunities (Families, Teens, Groups, Companies)
· Host a Needs Drive
Collect items from WAVI's current needs list to support survivors and families staying in shelter.
· Organize a Cereal Drive
Help keep our pantry stocked with breakfast options for shelter families.

Awareness Bow Project
Help raise awareness during Sexual Assault Awareness Month and Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Click here to contact Ashley Wasserburger to get signed up.
Sexual Assault Awareness Month (April)
· Tie awareness bows in March
· Help hang bows on April 1
· Help remove bows on April 30
Domestic Violence Awareness Month (October)
· Tie awareness bows in September
· Help hang bows on October 1
· Help remove bows on October 31
Family & Shelter Support Projects (Families, Teens, Groups, Companies)
· Create Birthday Kits
Assemble birthday kits for children and families staying in shelter.
· WAVI Garden Club
Help maintain and beautify outdoor spaces around the shelter.
Time Commitment: Approximately 2 hours per month.
· Meal Train Program
Provide a meal for survivors and families through our Meal Train program.
· Easter Egg Project
Help "Egg" WAVI's yard before Easter by filling plastic eggs with candy for children staying in shelter.
· Mother's Day Packages
Create special gift packages for mothers staying at WAVI.
· Adopt-A-Family for Christmas
Help provide gifts and holiday support for families during the Christmas season.
Sports Team Partnerships
· Dedicate a game, match, or tournament to survivors and help raise awareness in the community.

Most volunteer opportunities take place outside of WAVI’s Shelter to help protect the privacy and confidentiality of the survivors and families we serve. All volunteer hours will be tracked and documented.
WAVI is unable to provide volunteer opportunities to fulfill court-ordered community service requirements.
